Happy Holidays from Dallas Golf

From our family to you and yours, Happy Holidays.  No matter your reason for celebrating, we wish you a happy and safe Holiday Season.  Thank you for your patronage in 2006 and we look forward to serving you in 2007.

We have some exciting events planned for '07, including an all new look for dallasgolf.com.  We're exciting about our retail stores, as we remain the only "small shop" around.  Sure the other boxes may seem bigger and the lights may be brighter, but we're still the home town shop with the personal service and great selection of new and used !

In addition to a great business year in '06, we added one new member to our family.  We've always supported junior golf at Dallas Golf, but we didn't know how soon we'd be supporting our own junior golfers..but we're proud to introduce Connor David Smith , who's proud Dad writes this very blog.  I'm sure we'll be in the Father-Son events soon enough.

Happy 50th Birthday Kurt !

You ever see one of those office pranks and think.."Man, I wish we'd done that!" ?  Well, we have one for you to envy...Today is Kurt Ratliff's 50th Birthday.  He owns part of the joint, and he's the boss for most folks around here.  So, in doing what we did, we took a bit of a risk.  But its all in good fun, so what the heck....

Have you ever piled 500 black 12 inch balloons in one place ?  Well, we did, and here's the result !

Cds_90371We figured what more annoying way to spend your 50th birthday than with 500 black balloons in your office.  Ten of em for every year you've been on earth.  With each random pop, a reminder...50 !!

We've enjoyed our morning very much, and we'd all like to wish Kurt a very happy 50th birthday.

Happy birthday Kurt !!

If you have an office prank story, tell us about it.  We are sure we are not the only people crazy enough to put 500 balloons in our boss' office.

Very Sound Advice Here!

In 1923, Who Was:

       1. President of the largest steel company?
       2. President of the largest gas company?
       3. President of the New York
Stock Exchange
       4. Greatest wheat speculator?
       5. President of the Bank of International Settlement?
       6. Great Bear of Wall Street?

These men were considered some of the worlds most successful of their days. Now, 83 years later, the history book asks us, if we know what ultimately became of them.

       The Answers:

       1. The president of the largest steel company.
       Charles Schwab, died a pauper.

       2. The president of the largest gas company,
       Edward Hopson, went insane.

       3. The president of the NYSE,
Richard Whitney, was released from prison to die at home.

       4. The greatest wheat speculator,
       Arthur Cooger, died abroad, penniless.

       5. The president of the Bank of International Settlement,
       shot himself.

       6. The Great Bear of Wall Street,
       Cosabee Livermore, also committed suicide.

       However:
In that same year, 1923, the PGA Champion and the winner of the most important golf tournament, the US Open, was Gene Sarazen. What became of him?

He played golf until he was 92, died in 1999 at the age of 95.

He was financially secure at the time of his death.

       The Moral:

       Screw work.        Play golf
